20th Century Painted and Gilt Chinoiserie Decorated Two-Part Secretary Desk

This charming Italian neoclassical style chinoiserie decorated secretary desk features an arched open pediment centering a brass finial above two mirrored arched doors opening up to an interior fitted with large and small compartments. The lower part is a fall front desk opening up to an interior fitted with compartments and small drawers centering a door flanked by pilasters that pulls out as secret compartments. Under the fall front there are four long drawers a shaped apron and bracket feet. All surfaces are richly decorated with people, landscapes, trees, birds and flowers in the Chinese taste.
