NORMAN STUART CLARKE

Norman Stuart-Clark is one of Britain’s leading artist glassblowers.  Born in Essex, he gained a BA(hons) in glass and ceramics at Middlesex Polytechnic in 1976. A pioneer of British studio glass, Norman worked with Peter Leyton in London before moving to Cornwall.

Pure crystal glass is melted in the furnace and powdered coloured glass is arranged on steel benches in the studio.  The molten glass is gathered from the furnace on blowing irons and rolled onto pre-arranged colours.  The piece is then re-heated and blown into its final form.
