| FINE ART “Portrait of Countess Jeanne-Madeleine de Vidaud (Nee Gallet de Montdragon, 1711-95) 32” x 25.5”, oil on canvas, unsigned, inscribed verso, period Rococo carved and gilded frame Jeanne-Madeleine Gallet de Montdragon married Count Joseph Gabriel de Videau to Chateau La Tour and several other estates and baronies in 1753. The Countess and her son Count Jean Jaques de Videaud were beheaded in Avignon 1795 during the French Revolution.

Labels verso from THE PARKER GALLERY, London, title label by the artist dated 1826 plus restoration label dated 1948. John Lynn was a much sought after London painter of shipping and coastal scenes. He exhibited at the British Institution and the Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street. Lynn is a rare artist but according to Brook Hart his works are of ‘an exceptionally high quality’. At international auctions paintings by this important artist have fetched prices in excess of $ 60,000. Additional literature accompanies this exquisite and historic work. “Portrait of a Horse” Attributed to Abraham Cooper RA (British, 1787-1869) 17” x 21”, oil on relined canvas, inscribed ‘A(?)… Cooper on original label verso and titled ‘Portrait of a Horse’ Here is an equestrian painting of superb quality. Abraham Cooper was one the most well known horse painters of his time but painted also historical battle scenes. John Frederick Heering Sr. (1795-1865) was one of his students and there style of painting is very similar. Abraham Cooper is included in all major sources of art reference as well as ‘British Equestrian Artists’ by Antique Collectors’ Club.
“Aranella” By Albert Lynch (Peruvian/French, 1851-1912) 16.5” x 23.5”, oil on canvas, signed and inscribed ‘ARANELLE, Cannes, Avril 1891’ Albert Lynch studied at the l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and with Gabriel Ferrier (1847-1914). He received the Gold Medal in 1892 and 1900 (World Exhibition) and became honorary ‘Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur’ in 1901. The Art Museum of Sydney (Australia) acquired his work. Lynch is known for his many depictions of young ladies in daily life situations, genre paintings and occasionally as here maritime motifs. Aranella is said to be the artist’s own yacht. In 1997 a painting by Albert Lynch fetched $ 167,500 at Sotheby’s in New York. Albert Lynch is included in all major sources of art reference.

Detail  “Gloucester Fishing Boats” By Aldro T. Hibbard (American, 1886-1972) 17” x 21”, oil on canvas board, signed, Original exhibition label verso Aldro T. Hibbard is considered on of the most notable of the ‘Cape Ann School’ impressionists. After studying at The Mass. College of Art and The Boston Museum School he was awarded a grant to travel abroad where he among others met and was impressed by Joaquin Sorolla. Settling down in Rockport in 1920 he became a leading figure and a founding member of The Rockport Art Association. Throughout his life Hibbard created a vast body of work with an emphasis on Vermont winter landscapes as well as powerful depictions of his maritime environment of which this particular work is a prime example. “Configuration” By Patrick Boudon (French, 1944-1988) 82" x 46"; oil on canvas; signed. Patrick Boudon studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and had his first exhibition with the legendary Galerie Raymond Duncan (brother of Isadora Duncan) in Paris 1963. In 1966 he represented France at the 'Cite des Arts'. In 1968 he exhibited in New York for the first time (Gallery Michel Fortin) and from then on and to his much too early death in 1988 Boudon took on international Career, exhibiting in Grand Palais (Paris), Centre d'Arts Rive Gauche (Paris), Museum of Bahia (Brazil), Salon de Bastille (Paris) and a host of significant galleries. “Anglers by a Stream” By Thomas Creswick RA (British, 1811-1869) 16” x 22”. Oil on canvas, relined, signed. Period reticulated frame. Thomas Creswick is considered at the forefront of British ‘Golden Age’ landscape painting with a large oeuvre characterized by a narrow range of scenery usually with streams and rivers of Wales and the north of England. He exhibited at all major venues including the Royal Academy and after his death a Memorial Exhibition was held there. At the London Internatinal Exhibition of 1873, 109 of his works were featured. “Fishing in Rough Seas” By George Vincent (British, 1796-1831) 16” x 24”, signed lower left corner, oil on relined canvas, antique frame Here is a fine British seascape of extraordinary quality by one of her most noted marine painters. Several smaller and larger boats are negotiating the rough seas between the harbor, where many boats have sought refuge, and a mountainous coastline in the background. The painting is highly detailed and shows people aboard the vessels adding to the drama of the motif. George Vincent exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street until 1830 and works by his hand hang in the most distinguished collections such as: the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Art Museums of Nottingham and Sheffield and museums in the US. 
“Abstract Composition” By Charles E. Hagn (American, 1898-1980) 42” x 42”, oil on canvas, signed verso. Prize winner at the Society of the Four Arts, Palm Beach. Charles Hagn exhibited at the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach in 1963 where this very painting was awarded the Atwater Kent Award. In 1964 he won the Norton Artists’ Guild Purchase Prize. In 1965 Hagn had a solo exhibition at the Norton Museum of Art. Being a native New Yorker Hagn exhibited at numerous one-man shows in New York City, Putnam Valley and Westchester County and was awarded by New York State Historical Society. Hagn studied at the Army Art School in Paris during and after WW1, at the Boston Museum of Fine Art and at the Art Students’ League in New York.
