A Pair of 19th Century Italian Neoclassical Bronze Busts of Likely Ganymede and Hebe

SOLD. Ganymede, considered the most handsome boy in the world, was a Prince of Troy and abducted by Zeus with whom he replaced Hebe, the daughter of Hera, as cupbearer to the gods. Ganymede is often depicted wearing a Phrygian cap as in this case, under which his wavy hair falls in spiral curls over the temples.

Mounted on circular Carrara marble socles these busts are already weathered and great also for outdoor placement. H 24.5 in.
