In the tomb of king Tutankhamun was found a funerary bed with stylized lions supports which must have been the inspiration for this table. In the 19th century everything Egyptian became a leading home decor trend and this unusual looking table was likely made in France towards the end of the 19th century. It features two stylized carved lions supporting a walnut top with carved ornamental borders and centering a panel with incised pseudo hieroglyphs. Standing on wheels the table is like a serving table with the lion’s circular fashioned tails acting as handles.
