Historic Diorama Featuring the Four Masted Barque ‘William P. Frye’ at Full Sail
This great historic diorama likely dates to the first part of the 20th century. It represents a four-masted barque flying the Stars and Stripes cruising at full sail on white capped seas. The diorama bears a typed inscription along the bottom edge stating: “WILLIAM P. FRYE” BOUND WITH CARGO OF GRAIN FROM SEATTLE TO LIVERPOOL, RAN INTO THE GERMAN CRUISER PRINZ EITEL FREDERICK AND SUNK BY DYNAMITE BOMBS JANUARY 28, 1915. FIRST AMERICAN SHIP SUNK BY THE GERMANS.
