Sir Joshua Reynolds, British 1723-1792 ‘ Portrait of Mrs. Frampton’

Provenance: The collection of R. Frampton Esq.; the Collection of Willis F. McCook (appraisal of 1926); the Collection of the late Graciela Sanchez Brownlow; since 1983 in the custody of the Wizcaya Museum and Gardens, Miami.

The sitter in this excellent work by Reynolds is depicted three quarter length looking right in front of a red drapery. It is likely executed 1755-60. A plaque recto states that the painting was exhibited at Burlington House (Royal Academy) in 1910. The authenticity of this work is supported by the leading Joshua Reynolds expert Dr. D. Mannings, Kings College, University of Aberdeen.
