Born in Normandy on June 6, 1927 to an Italian father and a Russian mother, Yolande Ardissone left Normandy at age 17 to study at the Ecole des Arts Appliques and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Wally Findlay Galleries began representing her in 1957, hosting her first one-woman show in the United States. She has won numerous awards due to the lively sensitivity of her paintings and her firm and balanced compositions. Ardissone paints with a mature technique, forcefully, with textured paint radiating a natural and joyful dynamism. The French Government, the City of Paris, the Musee de la Marine, the Musee de Saint-Mur, the Musee de Saint-Cyprien and the Musee de Saint-Denis hold her works.
