Grand Tour Neapolitan Bronze Fountainhead of the ‘Amore Con Delfino’

Rare and beautiful 19th century Neapolitan Grand Tour bronze fountainhead of the ‘Amore con Delfino’. Cupid with dolphin, after the antique. Good large size version in dark ‘archaeological verdi gris Pompean patination’ after the original fountain excavated at the Thermae (baths) in Pompeii, now on view in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Cupid, the god of love, is often associated with dolphins as an allegory for how swiftly love moves on, Italy, circa 1880. Can be used both indoors and outdoors.
